The course that workaholism follows is predictable yet personally tragic. A number of specific fears, guilt, chronic fatigue, and the loss of feelings eventually produce severe personality changes that damage loved ones and cause associates and the public much grief. Integrity is affected at all stages of the breakdown syndrome. Figure 6.1outlines the conscious and unconscious factors that cause workaholics to lose their integrity.
